What We Do

About Us

We formed in 2013 through a ballot of local businesses to bring a newfound purpose and focus to the Baker Street and Marylebone area. We represent 200 businesses to drive forward positive change to create a thriving and prosperous community for everyone. We have had an exciting 5 years, with many successful projects and initiatives being delivered which have hugely benefited the area for all.   You can read all about them in our suite of annual reports below.

The Quarter, aptly named as we represent roughly a quarter of the Marylebone area, centres on Baker Street and includes popular retail streets Chiltern Street and Blandford Street and New Quebec Street. From North to South it spans from Baker Street Station to Wigmore Street.  Here’s a map of the full area we represent.

We are a Business Improvement District (or BID for short) and are a not-for-profit company, funded by our business members who pay us a levy each year.  Each BID in the UK has a five year term, at which point they will ask their members once again to vote and renew for a further five years. Our 2018 – 2023 Vision 

After a lengthy period of consultation and engagement with our members and stakeholders, in the summer of 2017 we released our Business Plan for 2018-2023. It outlines our vision and priorities for the next five years. Our new priorities focus on six core areas ensuring the Quarter is a place for people, a place for business and ultimately the West End’s commercial district of choice.

  • Quality Spaces & Streets

    Quality Spaces & Streets

    We deliver projects and services to transform the area and create a first class environment for everyone who works, lives or visits here.  These include the Baker Street Two Way project which will transform the area when completed and the Wonderpass which has completely rejuvenated a tired old subway.  Looking to the future we are working on proposals to improve the Bond Street to Manchester Square public realm experience, the area outside of Baker Street Station and an enhanced retail offering for the area.

  • Better Air Quality

    Better Air Quality

    Air Quality is a key concern for our members and their staff. We offer a a programme of practical services for businesses, awareness campaigns and joined up working with our neighbouring BIDs and other stakeholders to help make a positive impact on the quality of the area’s air.

    Safe and Cared For

    A safe and well-managed environment is good for everyone. Our detailed projects that manage the streets, such as the work of our Ambassador and Street Manager , plus our work to increase the security and resilience of the area ensures the Quarter is the best it can be and also provides reassurance to our members.

    Vibrant and Entertaining

    We ensure the area has plenty to offer those working here or just passing through with an array of activities, deals, illuminations and banners. An area that is vibrant and enjoyable enhances staff and visitor satisfaction and helps with staff retention. Find out about what’s coming up.

    Local Networks & Community

    A sense of community sets this commercial district apart from others. Our local information hub which includes our weekly newsletter and social media posts allows businesses and their staff to get involved in Marylebone and mix with others. We also make local corporate giving easier by pooling resources through our Smarter Giving initiative.

    We give members an effective, coordinated voice for matters effecting their business and the local area. A strong recognised identity for the Quarter is useful in attracting staff and visitors and is something we will be developing in the near future.
