We make training easy by offering you a range of courses that take place right here in the Quarter. What’s more they are absolutely free for all of our members.

We’ve teamed up with the best in the industry to deliver quality interactive workshops and certified courses that are relative, informative and enjoyable. Attendees will be equipped with invaluable skills and knowledge whilst having the opportunity to share practical advice and network with neighbouring businesses.   • Project Griffin

    Project Griffin

    Project Griffin is the national counter terrorism awareness initiative for businesses to increase the awareness of all staff of how best to reduce and respond to the most likely types of terrorist activities. This briefing event aims to help you understand the threat from terrorism to the UK, and provides guidance to individuals on what to do if they find themselves involved in a terrorist incident or events that lead up to a planned attack. This seminar is suitable for all members of staff.

    We work with our neighbouring BIDs to offer our members the chance to attend briefings throughout the year. If you would like to attend any of the following dates, please contact us. Tuesday 21 August / Thursday 27 September / Tuesday 16 October / Wednesday 28 November hosted by BakerStreetQ.

    In addition, a new e-learning course dealing with aspects of the Project Griffin programme is available for all staff to do at any time convenient for them.

    Emergency First Aid at Work, Tue 4 Sep 09:00

    This one day course is designed for people who want to receive training in emergency first aid and is especially suited for nominated first aiders in low risk working environments. Learn about the role of a first aider, managing an emergency, communication and casualty care.  This course is delivered by St Johns Ambulance and certificates are issued once the course is successfully completed.

    Project Argus

    Project Argus enables you to gain a better understanding of the threat from terrorism and of simple security measures that can be taken to protect your organisation. Staff members at manager level and above are encouraged to attend and will be asked to consider their preparedness for a terrorist attack through a series of simulated multi-media scenarios. The aim is to identify measures to help your organisation to prevent, manage and recover from a terrorist incident.

    Employment Law: Reasons For Dismissal, 13 Sep 09:00

    Working with local law firm Seddons, we’re delighted to launch a series of Employment Law related workshops with the first session exploring the Reasons For Dismissal. Led by Helen Crossland, Partner and Head of Employment, we will be discussing the five fair reasons for dismissal, with a particular focus on “some other substantial reason” (SOSR). SOSR is a little known but invaluable, catch-all reason for terminating an employee’s contract of employment. The hour long session will also feature a Q&A where you can ask the Seddons team any HR questions.

    Area-Wide Emergency Planning Exercise, Wed 19 Sep 09:00

    Through our Business Security Zone we will be hosting an area-wide emergency planning and crisis response exercise for all members. This three hour session will help you assess your preparedness and how your plans fit with your neighbouring members in the area. It will be an interactive table-top exercise, purely for the Quarter and will provide an opportunity to consider some of the issues arising from the Oxford Circus incident at the end of the last year. If you’re in a security role or are responsible for developing business continuity and crisis response plans we recommend you attend.
