Continuing to Support Our Businesses and Community

During this period we are all much more prepared to adapt the way we work and live to the circumstances. Since March we have been working with you to support and champion you through these difficult times. And we will continue to ensure government, the council and our other partners understand the challenges you face. We will of course be providing direct support for your business and your employees, we welcome any questions or suggestions you may have for us to help you along the way.

As this month progresses we will be gathering business advice from our partners and sources, as well as insight from our members in the Quarter which we will share with you on our dedicated coronavirus pages and via our Internal Comms and Consumer Business Update communications – email us to be added to the mailing lists.

Our social and wellbeing programmes will continue to be held online to be accessed whether you are working from home or the workplace. Over the next few months you can take part in our virtual walks programme, with more wellbeing events and activities to be announced soon. We will also be highlighting brilliant online content from our partners. There will be opportunities to up skill by becoming a Mental Health First Aider or a Fire Marshal and a range of counter terrorism workshops, all of which can be done online and can be accessed by those on furlough. Find out more here.

The Quarter’s retailers have demonstrated they are up to the challenge with deliveries, takeaways and online services up and running. Whilst some are delivering locally, others are providing nationwide initiatives so wherever you are you can cook along, exercise along or learn a new skill all courtesy of their digital platforms. You can find out more by visiting our Shop the Quarter Directory and following our social media accounts.

Our Street Safety Team and Street Environment Manager will continue to work in successful partnership with the police, the council and security in the wider area to monitor the area’s streets. They will keep a watchful eye on businesses still operating in the area as well as monitoring empty premises. As usual, they will work with the dedicated security teams in place in the Quarter – linked up via our radio network. For regular security updates contact us to be added to our Incident Alert System.

We know our members are always keen to help the vulnerable in our community, and this year we are running our sixth Christmas Giving Appeal. You can find out how you can help local children and families here. There are also lots of other opportunities on how you can contribute whether you are in the Quarter or working from home.

We look forward to seeing you in person or virtually soon.
