Employer Supported Policing

With their broad experience and varied backgrounds, volunteer Police Officers, or Special Constables, bring an added dimension to our Bobbies on the beat. By providing free training and, of course, uniforms, the Home Office’s initiative called ‘Supported Policing’, facilitates a programme which benefits employers, employees and the wider community. It’s a win, win situation.

The premise is businesses release their employees during work-time to train and work as Special Constables, and give a proportion of paid special leave to their employees to undertake the initial police recruit training and patrol duties. All of which helps businesses meet their objectives under corporate social responsibility.

For their part, employees gain experience and with access to training that would otherwise not be readily available elsewhere, develop new skills.
