Happy International Women’s Day

Today we’re wishing a happy International Women’s Day to the Quarter’s women.

IWD is marked annually to celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness about women’s equality, lobby accelerated gender parity and fundraise for female-focused charities. This year, we’re celebrating it in the Quarter – virtually – with a day of events.

Our morning Stretch and Scribble session was a great, creative start to the day, and if you came to our virtual lunch panel earlier today, thanks for joining us. We were grateful to be joined by a few inspiring women of the Quarter, who you can find out more about below:

Jennifer McCabe
General Manager at Holmes Hotel
Jennifer has a 20-year career in the hospitality industry, starting in Edinburgh for several hotel groups such as Macdonald hotels, Prima hotels and opened Le Monde, an independent boutique hotel on George Street which went on to win numerous awards including Scottish Hotel Manager of the Year Gold Medal 2009. She moved to London in 2009 and spent 10 years as Deputy & General Manager for Firmdale Hotels in four of their leading hotels. Following the birth of her two sons Alexander 3yrs and Bruce 5yrs she joined PPHE group to help with the repositioning of Holmes Hotel, working on its expansion including a roof terrace and additional meeting space.

Amanda Cherry
Director of Organisational Development at Aspect Capital
Amanda joined Aspect Capital in May 2000 as Office Manager and has held a number of people-focussed roles since then.  In January 2014, Amanda was promoted to Director of Organisational Development with responsibility for proactively focusing the company on its strategic goals, ensuring the business is appropriately resourced, structured and motivated, managing change and developing and protecting the culture of the business.  She is a widowed mother-of-three who spends her spare time skiing, SUPing and travelling around Europe with the kids in their campervan.

Rebecca Eckles
Head of Marketing and Communications – Associate Director at The Portman Estate
Rebecca is the Head of Marketing and Communications for The Portman Estate, and is responsible for promoting Portman Marylebone and protecting the corporate reputation of the Estate. She has been with the Estate for almost five years, and has many years of West End experience, having previously worked in comms and marketing roles for both New West End Company and Westminster City Council. In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys floristry, cooking and dabbles with DIY projects.
