Help Children Improve Literacy And Confidence

Doorstep Library is looking to recruit and train volunteers to work with families in the area to help introduce young children (0-11 years old) to the pleasure of reading. Their projects not only improve literacy and confidence in children, but they increase family wellbeing and bonding through the joy of sharing stories. Volunteers encourage both children and their adults to read for pleasure together from a young age. This support helps to prepare children for school and broaden their opportunities in life.

The charity is recruiting volunteers during this period and aims to have all new volunteers fully trained to make home visits to families soon, helping those who are most in need. They are also developing online visits, so you are able to help whether you are working in the area or from home.

Sessions take place on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 16:30 – 19:00 locally in Marylebone and across Westminster.

If you are interested in attending an online information session, please contact smartergiving@bakerstreetq.co.uk.
