Home Grown Finds Local Talent

Home Grown, Home House’s new private members’ club for high-growth entrepreneurs, will open this spring. A new venue such as this requires a substantial staff, and one that meets the high calibre of Home House.

HR Director, Natalie Tait was also keen to recruit locally for the roles knowing that staff within walking distance are especially valuable and potentially have longer-term commitment to the business. She decided to take a radical approach.

BakerStreetQ worked with Natalie, Westminster Employment Services and Recruit London to set up a two day Hospitality Recruitment Fair in nearby Church Street where there is known to be a number of individuals – skilled and unskilled – who are actively seeking long-term, local opportunities.

We were keen to remove any perceived barriers so potential candidates were encouraged to come along for informal (no suits or CVs) meetings and discussions about the opportunities at the new club.

The response was phenomenal – and at times prospective employees were queuing out of the door. Natalie and her team were delighted with the calibre of those attending and identified over 30 prospective employees for Home Grown having spoken to more than 80 individuals. The event was such a success that other hotelier members who went along to observe are now planning their own local recruitment days!
