Madame Tussauds Opens its Doors

Our Smarter Giving programme helps Madame Tussauds give back to local children and families with a fun day at the attraction.

Earlier this month we helped over a hundred lucky children, parents and staff from The Portman Early Childhood Centre (based in the Church Street area) to enjoy a fun-filled day out at Madame Tussauds London. To mark the opening of Merlin Entertainment’s 100th attraction, its children’s charity Merlin’s Magic Wand opened its doors to groups of deserving youngsters. The overall campaign offered 10,000 children around the world free access to some amazing experiences.

Jo White, headteacher of the Portman Early Childhood Centre said ‘The Baker Street Quarter Partnership is a huge asset for the area’  as she thanked us for thinking of them. Jo went on to say “Thanks also to the staff at Madame Tussauds who made everyone feel so welcome. One parent talked at length to me with a phone full of images of her with various wax works and told me that she had never before been to Madame Tussauds and this was the best trip she’d ever had. This is a woman with two young children who has got herself out of an abusive relationship and is rebuilding her life but money for trips is definitely not available. The children haven’t stopped talking about Spiderman all week!”.

Thank you Madame Tussauds for giving hundreds of children a magical day they’ll remember for years to come.
