Quarter’s Hospitality Businesses Given A Boost

We know from from our recent survey results that what you miss most about the Quarter is having lunch in our cafes and restaurants. So it was welcome news for the Quarter’s much-loved hospitality sector when the government announced it’s Eat Out Help Out scheme last week. The scheme which is available Monday – Wednesday from the 3 August will provide you, the customer, with 50% off meals in participating restaurants up to the value of £10 until the end of August. In the forthcoming weeks we will let you know which of the Quarter’s businesses’ will be taking part , and don’t forget restaurants will be able to claim back the 50% off you receive from each meal you enjoy.

We were also heartened to hear that alongside Eat Out Help Out there will be reduced VAT on food, accommodation and attractions from 20% to 5% to aid businesses recovery. We hope that this is the beginning of more support to come for this industry which contributes so much to the atmosphere and community spirit of the Quarter.

In the meantime we are continuing to work with our partners Westminster City Council and Portman Estate restaurants, cafes and pubs to obtain outdoor seating space to enable them to comply with social distancing measures whilst supporting their ability to trade successfully.

We are also looking forward to the welcome return of Quarter’s beauty services this week and our excellent gyms and fitness centres reopening by the end of the month. We will update you on reopenings on social media @bakerstreetq and our ‘Shop the Quarter Directory’ as we receive information.

If you are a food and beverage business and would like to register for the Eat Out Help Out scheme you can find more information here.
