Recycling in 2020

During 2020, we’re pleased to say that our Smarter Recycling scheme saved businesses £41,801 in recycling costs and diverted 568 tonnes of waste from landfill.

Tonnage is understandably down compared to previous years due to the effect of Coronavirus, lockdowns and homeworking over the last 12 months, but our Smarter Recycling partners have remained agile in their response to our members needs to ensure prices remain competitive and that waste is collected efficiently and safely. Members choosing to use Smarter Recycling also have the unique key benefit of contributing  to fewer waste collection vehicles in the Quarter which improves air quality and congestion.

All businesses in the Quarter receive preferential rates on our Smarter Recycling service together with a dedicated contract manager and members of BakerStreetQ get a further discount on their waste services, as well as support and engagement to improve recycling rates and business waste efficiencies. To provide our Smarter Recycling scheme, we work with two industry leading providers, Paper Round and Westminster City Council’s Commercial Waste Service Veolia, which have both been vetted to the highest environmental standards and operate zero to landfill services.
