Smarter Giving Volunteers Transform Local Gardens

Following our recent pleas for volunteers to give local gardens some much-needed tlc, we’re delighted to report on another highly successful Smarter Giving project.

Around 18 volunteers from five member businesses got together on two volunteering days in October and November to transform three very large, heavily overgrown gardens and several smaller ones for local elderly and disabled residents.

Resident, Mirbeta, aged 70 commented, “I’m very, very happy. I can now see outside my windows and get some sunlight. I spoke to my son and told him all about what you were all doing for us. Thank you so much to all the volunteers and to the Baker Street Quarter for organising this”. We also had many comments from passers-by, grateful at local businesses working hard to improve their neighbourhood.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers from Doubletree by Hilton Marble Arch, Lane Clarke Peacock, Caesars, Seddons and Invesco. Sadly one of the days had to be re-scheduled due to rain so we’d also like to thank those who volunteered but were unable to attend. We’re also extremely grateful to The Portman Estate for generously donating funds to this project and City West Homes who provided volunteers and support in coordinating the event. It was tough work but everyone was very committed and the result was incredible!
