West1 Gets Penfold Community Hub On The Move

The Penfold Community, which supports a number of our over 50s and elderly – even in lockdown – is using the most up-to-date technology to help those who would normally visit its day centre but are currently shielding in isolation, to look after both their physical and mental wellbeing.

With our Smarter Giving Manager, Kate’s assistance, Denis from the community hub has been working with the top Harley Street clinic, West1 Physiotherapy and Pilates, to bring free virtual Pilates classes via Zoom to those who would normally attend the hub.

Since lockdown began, Vishal Madhani, Director and Physiotherapist, who has also been helping many of us maximise our health with his free weekly sessions, explains that any exercise that improves our movement are beneficial for a range of conditions. Not only from a scientific point of view but mentally and emotionally, too.

Vishal is delighted with way in which participants have embraced the sessions and taken the opportunity to socialise with friends with whom they interacted as if face-to-face. With groups of up to 14, Vishal and Jess were able to properly engage with everyone to provide meaningful benefits to all.

We are constantly updating our online programme of social and wellbeing events and activities, which is available to you all.
