How do I join the Smarter Recycling service?
If you are a member you should contact us directly. We’ll talk you through the process and if you are happy, we will introduce you to your preferred supplier for a full waste audit. If you aren’t a BakerStreetQ member, you can contact either partner directly to discuss your requirements, just mention that you are based in the Baker Street Quarter area to ensure the discounted rates are applied.
How much will I save?
This depends on how much you recycle and who you are currently using. You will automatically make savings when using a Smarter Recycling partner as we have negotiated discounted rates across all waste streams for the area. Member businesses can benefit from further savings with an exclusive member-rate, just contact us to set up your service.
How is the impact of the scheme measured?
We use the intelligence you provide in your waste audit and compare it to the data we collect from your new service to calculate the reduction in waste vehicles in the area and associated emissions. The overall impact of the scheme is measured on an ongoing basis and we will share these achievements with you.
How can I measure the recycling rate in my business?
You can access monthly reports, training materials and compliance documentation through your online portal. Members also receive an annual Smarter Recycling certificate showing how much your company has recycled in the past year.
I am a member already using Smarter Recycling, what does this mean for us?
If you currently use the Smarter Recycling service, you will have already heard from a member of our team about your renewal contract. You will need to ensure you have signed the Subsidy Agreement to continue making the saving. Contact us if you have any queries.
I am not a member, but I use one of the service partners, what should I do?
It’s great news for you as you should see a reduction in your waste invoice once the discounted rate is applied to your account. This should be done automatically but if you have any queries, we recommend contacting your account manager directly.
How long will I get the discount rates for?
The negotiated rates will expire in five years, at which point we will look to negotiate new rates for the area.
Will the prices change?
The discounted rates we have negotiated are subject to review each year, and as with all contracts, market changes may result in changes beyond our control. We will work to keep any changes to a minimum and you will be notified in advance of any changes to costs by the service providers.
If I use Smarter Recycling, who is my contract with?
Your service contract will be directly with the service provider. We work closely with each partner to ensure a comprehensive waste management solution is delivered in line with our service level agreement which covers collections, quality, value for money and sustainability. Further details of our contract with the partners are available on request.
Why are there two providers?
Ideally, we would like all businesses to use the same waste provider, but we understand every business is unique and operates differently. That’s why we have selected two outstanding waste service providers already operating in the area so you can choose one that most suits your business needs. If the majority of local businesses use these providers, it will vastly reduce traffic and help to improve the area’s air quality too.
Do I have to use one of these providers?
No, there are many waste services providers available and who you use is entirely your choice. However, using one of our Smarter Recycling partners means that you can save money with already negotiated rates and you will be making a positive impact on the local environment by reducing emissions.
What if I am not happy with the service?
Both partners have dedicated customer service teams and we recommend talking to your account manager to discuss any issues. Of course, we are always here to support members so if you have any queries or comments, feel free to get in touch.
